SPM Results Are Out! What Should I Do Next?

Yay, Form 5 students! Congrats on getting your SPM results! Now that you have completed the first step of your higher education journey, let’s see what can you do next.

Take a Break, Have a KitKat (not sponsored)

You have been a student for more than a decade now. That means tons of homework, assessments, group projects, exams and of course, quite a lot of punishments (oopsie). Now, you deserve some appreciation for getting through all of this and of course, a little break to ease your mind (while thinking about what to study next).

You could either spend your time to do nothing or you can explore your opportunities – Take up an internship, learn a new language, or just do anything that might interest you! Always remember, a gap year does not mean that you can stay idle. Make the best use of this break and start planning for your future ahead.

Start Your Research

To decide upon a field of study or work, you must have sufficient knowledge about the field. Start by understanding where your interest lies then proceed to research that particular field of study or work. Understand the nature of the field and see how you can upskill yourself to secure a college degree. Keep in mind that your education should also help you land a successful career at the end of your degree. Therefore, it is a must that you understand the career prospects in your chosen field of study so that you can plan your plans accordingly.

Plan Your Study Abroad Destination

If you are planning to study in an overseas country, then you must get started with your university research at the earliest. Make sure you meet the deadlines of university application, offer acceptance, student visa application etc. Some courses require you to apply at least 1 year earlier and there is only one intake per year for the particular course. You wouldn’t want to miss it and wait for another year!!!

Start Early. Finish Early. Enjoy Early

If you already know where your interest lies, that’s great! Now get started on deciding upon a course and your desired study abroad destination. The earlier you start planning, the easier will be your road ahead! The sooner you start planning, the sooner you can get started with the next phase of your life.
