Bachelor of Dental Surgery
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery offers hands-on experience with an emphasis on preventive-based approaches to oral diseases. Clinical experience is embedded into the degree from first-year, and students learn through a variety of innovative and flexible learning approaches, including case studies and simulation. The Dental Simulation Clinic is a high-tech environment where students develop their patient-care skills using equipment found in real clinical settings.
Dentistry students also have the opportunity to learn in Australia’s newest dental teaching hospital, located in the state-of-the-art Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences (AHMS) building. The program enables students to develop their skills while helping to improve the dental health of disadvantaged people across Adelaide and South Australia.

Bachelor of Science
(Biotechnology)
This course catapults graduates to the industry’s leading edge. Students discover advanced technologies such as protein separation, genomics and proteomics to produce foods, drugs and other products.
They learn in a dedicated teaching laboratory, equipped with state-of-the art specialist equipment. And they do so alongside expert scientists and professional researchers. Students benefit from a unique cross disciplinary approach, which incorporates science, engineering, and computer and mathematical sciences, whilst specializing in molecular biotechnology.
Career readiness
Graduates are well equipped for careers in:
- biomedical biotechnology, medical diagnostics and vaccine discovery
- development of genetically modified organisms
- ethics and regulatory organisations
- innovative and laboratory research science
- management of biotechnology industries and enterprises

Industry placement
Students may have the opportunity to undertake international study opportunities, such as investigating biotechnology in Seoul, South Korea.
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)(Chemical)

The degree combines engineering with study across chemistry, mathematics and biology, and explores the production of products such as chemicals, fuel, drugs and food. The study experience is interactive from year one. Students learn how to turn laboratory-scale research results into large-scale commercial production, and undertake practical projects, study tours and work placements with top-level organisations. These have previously included such groups and companies as Engineers Without Borders, PepsiCo, Smiths Crisps, Jurlique and BHP. Majors are available across the following areas:

Electrical & electronic engineering affects every aspect of modern life; and the University of Adelaide – ranked 44 in the world for Electrical and Electronic Engineering*.
Students learn among state-of-the-art facilities, including 3D prototyping, autonomous vehicles and electric machines labs. The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)(Mechanical) provides a strong foundation in core mechanical engineering disciplines, with a focus on developing creativity and design skills utilising the state-of-the-art facilities.
