Master of Science in
Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience
Gain an advanced understanding of how our brains produce our thoughts and behaviours. Discover how the nervous system allows us to think, feel, understand, remember, judge and solve problems.
Use cutting-edge research tools to study the brain in action. Learn to record neural responses or stimulate the brain to better understand how it produces behaviour. Our school has state of the art research facilities for studying brain-behaviour relationships.
A Master’s in Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience will give you a strong foundation for further study at the PhD level. Graduates also gain employment in research and healthcare settings.
Master of Science in
Forensic Psychology
New Zealand’s only postgraduate programme in forensic psychology. Examine psychological theory and research in the legal and criminal justice field. Explore how it relates to policy and practice in areas such as adult corrections, family violence, youth offending and child eyewitness interviewing.
Develop clinically relevant skills and learn to use a range of research techniques to address forensic psychology research questions. You’ll be able to design, conduct, present and publish research that can make a real difference to people’s lives.
Get insights into how forensic psychology works in real life through the School’s close ties with government departments involved in crime and justice. These include the Department of Corrections, New Zealand Police and the Ministry of Social Development.
Master of Science in
Cross-Cultural Psychology
Gain an understanding of how culture affects the way people think and behave. Explore cultural variation in psychological processes and examine the role of culture in shaping human behaviour.
Develop the skills you need to critically assess and engage in cultural and cross-cultural research and learn the importance of understanding human behaviour from both culture-specific and culture-general perspectives. Learn to become a skillful researcher or to work with culturally diverse communities either in New Zealand or internationally.
